The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a mess – both literally and metaphorically. Puppies, it turns out, are just as bad for your sleeping habits as babies, unsurprisingly. But more on that later. For now, here’s a poem. These days, roadtrips always make me want to write.
I wanted to spend some time in German. This is a more-or-less faithful transcription of my time there.
The last time I was in Belgrade, some friends and I went out for drinks and I asked Uroš – a Serbian vegetarian, ie. a real live unicorn – why he was a vegetarian in a country whose love of grilled meat is surpassed only by the fanatical Argentina.
“What do you see?” he asked, looking out over the city. “I see a stranger and a strange land, both waiting for the other to become familiar,” she replied, catching sight of her reflection in the window.

Living with (someone else’s) Netflix account has been exhilerating – oh, the glorious world of easy-access television! (I’m very much a member of my generation: who even has a TV in their apartment, let alone actually pays for cable?). Thanks to this, I’ve been doing some exploring – which has had its ups and downs.
